Life at DA

It has been since long I have been one with myself . Though it just has been something about 3 months, I feel it like a decade !!! Now, I am home and I am doing what I want to; spending time with family, roaming out with friends, reading the piled up rss feeds, etc

But before all this I have been doing what I am supposed to do and not what I want to do.. You might not know how it feels like getting into an institution totally different from what you would have even imagined, a totally new environment...

Initially, I was missing those UG days so badly, I repeat so badly; that I, throughout the week, was eagerly waiting for FRIDAY. Yes, friday is the day when I can catch a train back home, to Baroda. Actually we used to calculate days remaining for runaway, as we calculate for a big event.

But as time passed and I started adjusting, I felt, I was recalling that change is must in life. I used to think that every thing has its peculiarity and you should not look everything from the same prejudiced perspective. And I started looking at it with an open heart.

Slowly I started loving this place. I made some of the nicest friends even out of my batch. G'nagar has a calmness and serenity in itself and I felt it at its best when most of the students went home for Diwali and I was still in the campus. I admit being associated with placements is altogether a different experience for me.

And it so has become that my answer, "its fantastic !" to the question "how is life at DA?" is a real one; rather than being fake one that it once used to be. :)

expectations

"The perception of value of anything obtained easily is significantly less"
I reached onto this after tempest that raged in my head. An incident triggered it.

Starting with the definition of Karma: Its the concept of 'action' you do which affects the cause and effect cycle. Any deed you do is controlled by your free will. You have the full freedom to do it or not to; in this way or that way. It is said that its these deeds that constantly shape our present and future.

If a person does any action, what does he/she expects against it? Broadly the expectations can be:
  1. Materialistic Expectation : Any material thing in return of the action.
  2. Sentimental Expectation : The expectation of Love; expectation of feeling of gratitude. Also the nominal expectation that the action should get noticed by or acknowledged by somebody. (may be for whom it might be done)
The Ideal expectation is null, it says "कर्म किये जा, फल की चिंता मत कर" i.e. keep dong what you are supposed to do, without thinking about the returns of your deeds.

Coming back to the experience I had, I said to myself that if I have done something for somebody, what should I expect? I neither expect anything materialistic, nor I expect thank you. But am I wrong if I am expecting my deed to be acknowledged by the one?
What might be the reason for such behavior?
My alter ego said, A probable reason might be that the value of the action done by you in others' perspective would not be as high as you see it. I said might be. Then he continued might be he/she unaware that u did something. I said might be, might be not. He also said that there are chances of being selfish. I said, well fewer.
Finally when I had a talk with experienced person, it cleared up my mind.
I was told, many a times it is  नेकी कर और कुंवे मे डाल.. also was told, the we all know philosophy, what have you brought that you will take with you? Separate yourself from the actions as well the results.

Talking pragmatically, You should have the guts to expect absolutely nothing; or speaking it loudly and clearly making all aware, demanding whatever you want, if need arises.

3) Women in beer

Recently, University scientists released the results of an analysis
that revealed the presence of female hormones in beer.

Men should take a concerned look at their beer consumption.

The theory is that:

Beer contains female hormones (hops contain phytoestrogens) and
that by drinking enough beer, men turn into women.

To test the theory,
100 men were fed 8 pints of beer each within a 1 hour period.
It was then observed that 100% of the test subjects:

(1) Gained weight.

(2) Talked excessively without making sense.

(3) Became overly emotional.

(4) Couldn't drive.

(5) Failed to think rationally.

(6) Argued over nothing.

(7) Refused to apologize when obviously wrong.

No further testing was considered necessary !!!

2) Women keeps promises

There was a man who had worked all of his life and had saved all of
his money.
He was a real miser when came to his money.
He loved money more than just about anything, and just before he
died, he said to his wife,
"Now listen, when I die, I want you to take all my money and place it
in the casket with me.
I want to take my money to the afterlife."
So he got his wife to promise him with all her heart that when he
died,
she would put all the money in the casket with him.
Well, one day he died.
He was stretched out in the casket; the wife was sitting there in
black next to her closest friend.

When they finished the ceremony, just before the undertakers got
ready to close the casket,
the wife said "wait just a minute!"
She had a shoe box with her; she came over with the box and placed it
in the casket.
Then the undertakers locked the casket down and rolled it away.
Her friend said, "I hope you weren't crazy enough to put all that
money in the casket."
She said, "Yes, I promised. I'm a good Christian, I can't lie.
I promised him that I was going to put that money in that casket with
him."
"You mean to tell me you put every cent of his money in the casket
with him?"
"I sure did," said the wife. "I got it all together, put it into my
account and I wrote him a check."

1) Women are smart

A woman and a man are involved in a car accident;
it's a bad one.
Both of their cars are totally demolished but amazingly
neither of them is hurt.

After they crawl out of their cars,
the woman says, "So you're a man.
That's interesting. I'm a woman.
Wow, just look at our cars! There's nothing left,
this must be a sign from God that we should meet
and be friends and live together in peace
for the rest of our days."

Flattered, the man replied,
"Oh yes, I agree with you completely!"
"This must be a sign from God!"

The woman continued, "And look at this,
here's another miracle.
My car is completely demolished but
this bottle of wine didn't break.
Surely God wants us to drink this wine
to celebrate our good fortune."

Then she hands the bottle to the man.
The man nods his head in agreement,
opens it and drinks half the bottle and then
hands it back to the woman.

The woman takes the bottle and immediately puts the
cap back on, and hands it back to the man.

The man asks, "Aren't you having any?"

The woman replies, "No. I think I'll just wait for the police...."

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Women are clever, manipulating creatures. Don't mess with them.

ActiveX disabled

Whenever I open Bitdefender, it did not display properly, just a white screen.
Also, windows gadgets were not working.

Error Statement -

One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either:
1) Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page, or
2) You have blocked a publisher of one of the controls. As a result, the page may not display correctly.

I tried micrsoft support but it didnt solved the problem.

Solution is:

Delete 1 extra (parasite) zone from
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\
with pseudo-graphic number, you'll see it before zone number 0.
It seems this is a bug of Adobe flash player update, though I am not sure.
P.S. By the way, this extra zone prevents desktop gadgets to be shown correctly.
